Pennsylvania Oil Tank Removal
PA gives financial assistance to help pay for tank cleanup.
Here are the requirements & details about the program.
- Tanks cannot be larger than 3,000 gallons.
- PA makes available $500,000 per year for this program.
- PA DEP has a 2 page application to get grant approval. The application process has been streamlined and doesn’t even need to be notarized.
- If you had to clean-up a leak from an oil tank and the leak occurred after January 30, 1998, you are eligible.
- A $1,000 deductible must be paid by the owner.
- The maximum grant for reimbursement of costs is limited to the amount paid for the cleanup or $4,000.00 whichever is less.
- Home buyers: A person buying a home may want to test the soil or hire a tank testing company. This would help determine the condition of the oil tank prior to taking possession of the property.
What costs are eligible for reimbursement?
- excavation, emptying, removing, transporting & disposing of the underground tank.
- removing contaminated soil
- soil sampling & water sampling
- restoring disturbed or contaminated areas.
